The Rule of Life of the SSS

Members of the Society of Sacramental Socialists commit to work together for the flourishing of Christ’s Kingdom on earth through prayer and righteous action.

To this end we require of ourselves and each other:

Commitment to the Catholic Faith

  • To be a committed member of a local church or Christian community.
  • To engage with Holy Scripture.
  • To participate regularly in the Sacramental life of the Church.
  • To uphold Catholic teaching and theology.

Commitment to Socialist Praxis

  • To be active in local, national, and international or global struggles for justice and liberation.
  • To seek solidarity and partnership with other socialist organisations of good will.
  • To actively oppose oppressive systems of power or government.
  • To engage and develop appropriate contextual and liberating theology that informs our action.

Prayer

  • To pray regularly morning and evening.
  • To pray the Prayer of the Society daily.
  • To pray for each other daily, through the Society Cycle of Prayer.
  • To pray for justice and liberation for all God’s creation.

Personal Integrity

  • To use our resources, time, and money for the Kingdom of Christ.
  • To work for the aims of the Society in work, church, and personal life.
  • To be accountable for our actions, and to seek accountability from others.

Commitment to the Society

  • To participate in the life of the Society through national events, local groups, and cell groups.
  • To attend the Annual General Meeting of the Society if at all possible.
  • To renew the Rule of Life each year at the Annual General Meeting, either in person or in a written statement of intent.
